Hi, My 99 Durango (2wd) 77k, dosn't want to shift from 2nd to 3rd. It shifts fine from 1st to 2nd , and from 3rd to overdrive fine. I had these symptoms before with the brake lights on, and speedo not operating, and replaced the speed sensor. This took care of the speedo and lights, but the tranny is still acting up. HELP? Joe

I FIXED THIS PROBLEM BY SURPRIZINGLY GETTING MY TRANNSMISSION FLUSHED. IT TOOK ABOUT 15 MILES OF DRIVING AFTERWARDS AND THEN IT STARTED SHIFTING LIKE NEW. IT HAS BEEN DRIVING GREAT NOW FOR OVER A MONTH( KNOCK ON WOOD).

Have the same problem with 98 Durango SLT 4X4 @ 76,000 miles. Had the speed sensor replaced and that worked for a bit, but then winter came and I can't get from 2nd to 3rd gear if my life depended on it.

Tranny shop says replacement is needed. :banghead:

It is possible that you have a malfunction in the TCC circuit (torque converter clutch circuit) The circuit is grounded out by the ECM in order to "Lock-Up" the converter at higher speeds, if this is malfunctioning, the tranny may not shift into 3rd gear or o/d. A friend of mine has a '99 Durango SLT and he had this problem (he couldn't get into o/d when the vehicle was at normal operating tempoerature)
