1998 intrique purchase ?

Looking at buying a 98 intrique from a trusted local dealership. Wondering what types of concerns there are with these vechiles maintence etc ? Whats warning signs should i look for ? Its a 3800 Series II engine. So far ive heard good things but just looking for some honest opions.

You waited a whole 12 hours and 42 minutes before being surprised that no one replied? This board does not see a huge amount of traffic.
No too many people who post here have the 3800 engine -- Seems that the 3.5L is a lot more common, unless only people with the 3.5 have problems. The big complaints about the 3.5 on this forum and others seem to be (in no particular order):
Oil consumption
Strangeness with engine missing and dying
Alternator problems
Power steering pump / steering rack noises
3800 has been in production with GM for a VERY long time. I think they have most of the bugs worked out.

3.8 is a very solid engine. I had one in my 92 Silhouette. No problems at all, and just normal maintenance. Just sold it with 138,000 miles. I believe the series II is a 200,000 engine. My folks have one in their Park Avenue, also. Very smooth.
