2004 WRX, 1st gear problemkeita 11-29-2003, 08:08 PM Hey Fellas, just got a question that you guys may be able to help me with... I've got a 2004 WRX, no mods. It appears that the 1st gear is pretty hard to get into unless you're at a complete stop. If I try to shift down into 1st going 10 mph, it just doesn't want to get into the slot. Anyone have a problem similar to this, and can you fix this problem?? Diesel2NR 11-29-2003, 08:16 PM it might have a syncronizer (sp?) that's keeping you from going into 1st. I have driven a WRX, much less a 2004, so I'm just throwin out a guess. LjasonL 11-30-2003, 02:46 AM Welcome to Subaru ownership. :cwm27: They all do that. Learn to double clutch or don't downshift till you stop. Alldar 11-30-2003, 08:41 AM how do you double clutch??? lol LjasonL 11-30-2003, 04:58 PM keita 11-30-2003, 05:10 PM Dude!! That's good stuf bro! I was wondering if the 1st gear issue is a Subaru thing. I've driven Honda's and Acura's and I don't recall having a problem with downshifting into the 1st like that. I guess it prolongs the life of the syncro by not allowing me to downshift hard... (not that I'm trying to downshift hard anyway). Guyanson_Mendiola 12-03-2003, 12:12 AM why do all Subaru's have these problems is it maybe because of the Transmission on the Subaru? ragnarok720 12-03-2003, 12:57 AM Yea, the trannies are notorious for this. Put some better tranny oil in and it'll help with it a little. Guyanson_Mendiola 12-06-2003, 01:52 AM Subaru needs to put a little more oil in there stock transmissions. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
