Clicking & shaking with service engine light

I have a 00 Pontiac Montana. When you start it up, the service engine light is flashing. The van is making a "clicking" noise and shaking. If you give it gas, with will not go very fast and the shaking gets much worse. Any thoughts? I have a warranty on it, but I had to waste the time and money of going to the dealer, if it isn't something that is covered by the warranty. Also, the service engine light is on and blinking.

What name is your warranty? It sounds like you have a misfire, most extended warranty companies will cover the problem and the GM warranty will fix is free of charge!!

I bought the used Pontiac at a Ron Tirapelli Ford dealer. The Warranty is called Basecare. They aren't very helpful there and always give me problems when I take the vehicle in. Hopefully this will be covered.

11-28, I took the van in this morning. Unfortunately they have to replace the coil and it isn't covered by the warranty ($250.00).

Do it yourself. The part is around $50, and the job is an easy DIY. Even if you replace all three coil packs (which many recommend when one goes bad) you'll still be ahead of the game...
