Odyssey has no tachometer - anyone know the gear ratios?hal2001 11-24-2003, 03:20 PM I just bought a used '95 Odyssey. It doesn't have a tachometer, and the engine sounds like it is revving really high at Interstate speeds. My 96 and 91 accords do have tachometers, so I am familiar with what a Honda 4-cylinder should sound like, and the Odyssey sounds like the RPM's are too high. My first question is this: Does the '95 Odyssey have a different transmission from the '94 Accord, or different gear ratios (they are both 4-speed auto). Does anyone know where I can find the gear ratios? My other question is: What is the best way to hook up an aftermarket tachometer? It says to attach a wire to the negative terminal of the coil. Well, the coil is inside the distributor, sop that's not easy to do. I'm trying to think of a way to attach a wire so that it exits the distributor cleanly. Is there a terminal somewhere that I can plug into to read the engine speed? menace78 06-29-2004, 02:25 PM Well I can't help you with the Ratios but for the Tach just tap into the solid blue wire exiting the distributor.. Check out my pic.. hal2001 07-23-2004, 12:06 AM Thanks, Menace nice installation I didn't mount mine permanently, I just have it rolling around in the storage bin in the center below the radio. I have to open the bin to see it. It's my wife's van and she didn't want me to mount it anywhere conspicuous !! I already figured out how to splice into the coil wire, but a few months later I found a cleaner way. There is a little connector for a diagnostic tach. It comes out of a big bundle of wires near the firewall on the passenger's side. (I bought a Helm manual, which also gave me the gear ratios) If anyone wants more info, email me - nokondisa@hotmail.com vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
