Del Sol WON'T STARTmrchris1979 11-24-2003, 02:26 AM I have a 1993 Del Sol 1.5 with manual tranny. The car was parked on idle and it just shut off. I tried to start it again but no go. Starter turns fine and the car has plenty power to turn the engine, but it does not fire all the way. All I've done is get new spark plugs but no go. Any opinions ? Ricochet 11-24-2003, 03:02 PM Try your old spark plugs.. i_a_n112784 11-24-2003, 06:05 PM I can think of a few things to check. Make sure that there is spark, to do this just take a plug out, reattatch the wire, hold it close to a ground, and have someone try to start it, watch for the spark to arc over to the ground from the plug. If this happens, you have spark. Check all of them just to make sure you don't have a loose wire or a problem in the distributor. Second thing to check is that there is fuel. If there is fuel and spark, the car should start. mycivic 11-24-2003, 06:28 PM check oil...fuel...battery...alternator or distributor. other than that, i dont know any other problems that may be. but sounds like an electrical problem. mrchris1979 11-24-2003, 07:05 PM Thanks for all your replies but I did figure out the problem. The bearing in the distributor was done for. I basically just took the distributor off the head and checked to see if the rotating assembly on the dizzy that goes into the head was spinning freely, but it was completely stuck and was not spinning at all. Therefore, No spark, no power. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
