Camry Oil Pump Bahamianguy 11-23-2003, 11:46 PM
First I want to say this Camry gave me too much problems.. I have a 1995 Toyota Camry, 4 cylinder, recently the car was parked for one week, I was on vacation, came back oil light came on and has not turned off in four day. I had the machanic check and replace the oil and filter for the car, the light went off for 10 minutes during testing and came back on. The mechanic removed the val pan cover, the oil was hard and crusted, he suggested dropping the oil pan and cleaning the mechanical parts, then removing the oil pump to review its condition. Does this mean I will have to get a new Oil pump. thanks ... Since your oil was hard and crusted, then I would have him clean things up for sure. Then he could inspect moving parts, the oil pump, etc. After he does all that, maybe it would be a good idea to run a bottle of engine cleaner flush through and let it drain out completely. Then change your oil and filter again. Hope everything goes well for you. jsinton 12-01-2003, 09:18 AM It doesn't sound very good. Sounds like somebody fried that engine. You should do a compression check first to see if this engine is worth saving. Also, all this work your mechanic is talking about... is it equal to or less than the general value of the car? What is the mileage? Related Links Enter the largest automotive community on the planet! |
