there was a flood here on tuesday and i had to drive home through the water.i thought there was nothing wrong with my car until yesterday when my service engine soon light came on. i figured out that one of the problems is that my cooling fan stopped working.(the fuse is okay) my exhaust wasnt under water when i started it, but while i was driving home some water found its way into the engine bay. the black mat on the roof of the hood was wet(the fire something?)and the water soaked it and dripped down over my engine. the front part of the engine compartment over the radiator was wet and everythng on the right side was wet. i dried everything out with a blower. when i drove my car the next morning, the temp light came on... I want to know what the engine light could mean?

I have frequently seen temp sensors damaged by sudden changes in temperature. If the engine is not hot, I recommend the replacement of the sensor. Ray

The check engune light will come on when the electrical system gets wet, or if the gas cap isn't on tight, it should go off once the car dries out. If not you should take the car in and have it checked.

The SES light will NOT come on simply when something gets wet... it is necessary for the system to detect an erroneous reading before that happens. Only if the moisture causes a problem with monitored systems will this lamp illuminate. If and when it does, it's related code is the place to start. Ray
