Basicly are they known for having any common oil leaks?

Iv just helped a mate buy a '93 JDM Blue Bird EXE, with an Auto equiped SR20. (a very detuned one, this thing is so slugish its not funny.) Any way its got 120,000kms on the clock, but Im pretty sure its had a good 50,000km wound off it at some stage in its life.

The engine has been well cleaned, so there are no obvious oil leaks, however the sump and engine cross member have a good layer of caked on Oil, which would have been very diffcult to clean, and the boot looks like its had an oil pack carried in thier which has leaked. (to top up everytime the last owner got gas). So it either has or did have a major oil leak somewhere.

Hey George.

Aside from the excessive oil sludge built up on the car from his explanation, aren't the SR20's known for one specific yet minor oil leak?

The oil switch.

I would assume that most SR20's, no matter where they are from would have the same oil switch that has caused many minor oil leaks from time to time over the years.

Do tell????? is it easy to replace?

I actualy think its a gasket or a seal somewhere. Hopefully its just a sump or rocker cover gasket, that way I can into it and fix it with little trouble.

I wouldn't call it common, but it's far from unheard of.
