95 Neon Engine Light....anybody have the codes??JuniorBII 11-22-2003, 10:48 PM I have a 95 neon that is almost paid off, i just spent 600 on a new AC, and 500 for tires and alignment. Now the light is on and one place is telling me it is the EGR valve and another tells me i have blow by. The car runs like hell. It spits and sputters and smells like burning oil. I have the code that the light flashed at me. It spit out these numbers 1 2 4 3 4 3 5 5 Anybody have any idea what to do so i don't get nickle and dimed to death?!?!?! Any advice would ge GREATLY appreciated. tazman 12-02-2003, 01:18 PM It sounds like it is the EGR vavle causing your rough running. Do a full tune-up, plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel and air filters and an oil change. Most places can replace your EGR valve fairly cheap. Metmagic2k 03-19-2004, 10:45 PM From what I remember I think the number 1 2 4 3 4 3 5 5 means, the 12 just tells you that the error message is starting, the 4343 I think is the error code, and the 55 means the end. redrival 04-01-2004, 07:24 PM In case you ever need to read the codes again here's the list so you can double check everything and don't have to take random people's advice :) Code Description of Trouble Code 11 Timing belt skipped 1 tooth or more from initial learned value; Intermittent loss of either camshaft or crankshaft position sensor; No crank reference signal detected during engine cranking 12 Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles 13 No change in manifold absolute pressure (MAP) from start to run 14 Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor voltage out of range 15 No vehicle speed sensor signal 17 Closed loop temp not reached or engine cold too long 21 02 sensor problem (oxygen sensor), upstream or downstream 22 Engine coolant temp sensor out of range 23 Intake air temp sensor out of range 24 Throttle position sensor (TPS) out of range, or disagrees with MAP 25 Idle air control motor circuits problem, target idle not reached (+/- 200), vacuum leak found 27 Injector control circuit problem 31 Evaporator purge flow monitor failure or evaporator solenoid circuit problem 32 Exhaust gas recirculating (EGR) system failure or solenoid circuit problem 33 A/C clutch relay circuit problem 34 Speed control solenoid circuits problem 35 Radiator fan control relay circuit problem 37 Torque converter clutch solenoid circuit or park/neutral switch failure 41 Generator field not switching properly 42 Fuel pump relay control circuit problem Auto shutdown (ASD) relay control circuit problem No ASD relay output voltage at PCM Fuel level sending unit - volts out of range Fuel level sending unit - no change over miles 43 Multiple/ single cylinder misfire 44 Battery temp sensor volts out of range 46 Charging system voltage too high 47 Charging system voltage too low 51 Fuel system lean 52 Fuel system rich 53 Internal controller failure 54 No cam signal at PCM 55 End of error messages (If you get this only, no errors were found) 62 PCM failure - SRI mile not stored 63 PCM failure - EEPROM write denied 64 Catalytic converter efficiency failure 65 Power steering switch failure 95neonsc 04-19-2004, 01:50 AM You should go for an EGR block off if you are going to have work done on the EGR anyways, this will cause the check engine light to remain on all the time since the EGR system will be actually failing, this is supposed to make the car quicker, not faster, just quicker, lol... razzyripple 10-02-2006, 12:00 AM what is an EGR block off? I keep getting the egr codes as well. JuniorBII 10-05-2006, 08:52 PM what is an EGR block off? I keep getting the egr codes as well. Hey man, when i had this problem, i just did a tune up. Like plugs, wires, belts and what not. Error code went away. I would try that first. I took it to a shop and they quoted me some rediculous number to fix it. The plugs and wires and what not you can do yourself. Hope this helps. I don't have my neon anymore but it was a great car while i had it. das2123 10-06-2006, 05:31 PM what is an EGR block off? I keep getting the egr codes as well.Did you replace it yet? Here (http://www.neongoodies.com/) is a link to the EGR kit. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
