I have a 97 RS that I want to go GST. HELP!!ItJustDerek 11-22-2003, 10:23 AM I have a 97 eclipse with Chromalusion Paint, 18 inch chrome, and leather...the only thing is, is that i bought it in the junkyard and built it, so it came with an auto and an RS engine. You can imagine my disapointment. So now I have a bit of money, and i was wondering what I had to do to change it over...does anybody know if The RS has the same mounts etc?!?! If I bought a GS-T in a junkyard with a good tranny and engine...is it basically pull the old and plug the new?!? if anyone can help...please do, i need it. Thanks. Derek By the way...I have an A mechanic at my work who will do whatever it takes to change it and he wont charge over $1500 and the head gasket on the RS engine is going...that is why i am trying to figure all this out. So turbo on the RS wont be worth it and neither will selling the car. I owe 3,000 on it.plus I love it. thanks for the help, later. Crimson 11-22-2003, 10:37 AM Well to completely change to GST you would have to swap the 420A engine with the 4g63 which im pretty sure wouldn't be too hard since its the same body but im not sure. Unless you know a lot about cars I suggest have that mechanic of yours do all of the engine swapping, switching trannys and whatever else is slipping my mind. As far as exterior goes, you can buy the turbo wing from spoilerdepot for about 200$ and thats all I can think of. Leave RS on the back tho and let it be a sleeper haha. duckydsp 11-22-2003, 03:17 PM I don't think that the engine will just slip right in. I'm pretty sure that you have to move some stuff around first. kjewer1 11-22-2003, 10:40 PM You cant put a 4g63 in a non turbo car without major chassis reconstruction. Just build the 420a and turbo it. See Hahn and SBR for kits. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
