Distributorless ignition conversionyiros 11-18-2003, 10:21 PM Does anyone know how the Distributorless ignition system works? I have a NA supra and I need to convert the ignition system as my turbo mod won't fit. I am guessing new ECU, loom and sensors would be required (+ coil packs etc..) Your swapping everything turbo over i hope, not just turbo'ing your n/a. 7M-GTE blocks are cheap, so theres not reason not to use one, you'll also want to pick up an entire 7M-GTE engine harness and the ECU from the same year along with all the sensors attached. Yes, your correct though, you'll need a coil pack, CPS (cam position sensor to replace the distributor on your n/a), and the turbo harness and ECU with sensors. I should have mentioned that I have the MkIV however the info is very relavent! I have the factory original turbos sitting in my garage with the exhaust manifold and actuator. I originally planned to run low boost and high compression to minimise lag. I have removed the actuator for a true twin turbo setup. I only payed AU$400 for the parts so if I can't use them, then it doesn't really matter. I was originally planning to use a piggy back ECU to fool the original ECU but I then realised that the front turbo will/may interfer with the distributor. I will investigate how much time, effort and cost it will take to convert the ignition system. I have the engine workshop manuals and the service/repair maunals for the 2JZ-GE/GTE coming from the UK.
