bEsT sIzE RiMschstigerpride05 11-17-2003, 11:00 PM Hey, I'm looking at getting some new rims for my 03 Civic HX and was wondering what size you guys recommend (height and width)... would 18 x 7.5 be too big or perfect?? CivicSiRacer 11-17-2003, 11:16 PM That's HUGE! If you put them on your HX your car is going to move like a snail. Most of us recommend 15s or 16s. 15x6.5" with 205/50x15" or 16x7" 205/45x16". chstigerpride05 11-17-2003, 11:31 PM lol, I know they're big but I don't really care about going all that fast, but 18's look great on imports, maybe i'll just get thinner rims.... chstigerpride05 11-17-2003, 11:34 PM maybe 17 x 7 lightweight racing rims w/ low profiles BullShifter 11-18-2003, 12:08 AM The sidewall will be so thin with 18's your car will ride like shit no matter what suspension set-up you have. If you do go 18's, upgrading the brakes & suspension would be a wise idea. The biggest I'd go with on a civic is 17's - prefer 13"-16". SiGNAL748 11-18-2003, 01:03 AM low profile 15's (16's at the most) would be ideal for civics. 17's can be pulled off if you can lower the car enough to a minor tuck. CivicSiRacer 11-18-2003, 12:09 PM 18s look ridiculous :) mycivic 11-18-2003, 12:17 PM heres a website that may help. it compares the stock wheels/tire to the one you want. http://www.whalentire.com/ SiGNAL748 11-18-2003, 06:08 PM 18s look ridiculous :) :iagree: JakeDrummer 11-18-2003, 06:29 PM I personally don't think 15's look right on a civic, I put my integra's wheels on my civic and they just look to beefy, made it look like a 4x4 cuz there was to much tire showing. I'd say 16's man, maybe 17's with rubber bands for wheels. also wHat ArE yUO tAlKiNg LIke tHis fOr? CivicSiRacer 11-18-2003, 11:16 PM You'll realize as you get older than low profile sucks for your back :) Miataracer 11-19-2003, 01:36 AM I have 17's and after autocrossing I kind of wish I had gotten 16's DON'T GO TOO BIG! hammerdgolfer 11-19-2003, 03:24 PM i have 13" steelies witha nice black paint job, theyre not coming off my car UNLESS i find 12" mugen wheels on my 95 hatch that is going to be somewhat show and go i am going to have gsr twisties andpower coat them i was thinking maybe a bright red on a white car, unelss i think of a dif color Esox814 11-19-2003, 03:51 PM Hey, I'm looking at getting some new rims for my 03 Civic HX and was wondering what size you guys recommend (height and width)... would 18 x 7.5 be too big or perfect?? If the O.E. (original equipment) size is 185/65-14, you shouldn't go more than a "plus three" 17"x7 due to clearance problems. If you're looking for the best combination of looks, handling, braking and performance, I would stick with 17x7's matched with 205/40-17 tires. Choosing the size is the easy part, wait till you start checking out the syles! Tire Rack has a cool deal where they silhouette your car and you match what the different rims would look like on your vehicle. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
