Service Engine Soon lightrfcomm2k 11-17-2003, 10:32 AM The Service Engine Soon light came on. I opened up my Haynes manual and found the ALDL connector they describe, but the wiring on the pins does not match the drawing in the book. The book indicates I should short Pins A & B and then the light will blink a code to indicate what the trouble is. Pin A has no wire on it, so connecting these as the drawing shows would do nothing. HELP! intimida 11-20-2003, 06:38 AM what year is you'r vehicle? rfcomm2k 11-20-2003, 09:59 AM 1995 3.8l RABarrett 11-20-2003, 10:35 AM If the connector is trapezoidal rather than rectangular, it is a pre-OBDII, requiring a dedicated scanner. '95 was a pivotal year, with parts from both versions. Ray ciras3 12-22-2003, 11:47 PM Hi, Ray is exactly correct. I own a 95 and it's an odd year to get the codes out of. You actually get OBD-II codes out of it, but you need the GM OBD I cable/connector. I own an AUTO X-RAY OBD-II scanner and had to purchase the GM OBD I cable. Works sweet. It came back around and ran fine but the light stayed on for a day. i changed the oil and for whatever reason the light went back off. I suspected carbon also in my emission system. The owners manual says this may happen when you put fuel in the car an dthe cap wasn't in place right, the electrical system getting wet, low on fuel, or bad gas. I don't know forsure what it was but it went out and the car is running fine. bessina 07-28-2004, 06:14 AM Hello you should build a simple interface (www.pontiac-interface.de) to connect to the ALDL-connector and download the free program for diagnosis. This program is for all 3.8 1992-1996. rfcomm2k 07-28-2004, 12:23 PM Hello you should build a simple interface (www.pontiac-interface.de) to connect to the ALDL-connector and download the free program for diagnosis. This program is for all 3.8 1992-1996. How about an English version? The website you directed me to was a foreign site (Danish? German?) that I cannot read. bessina 07-29-2004, 01:48 AM Hello all the diagnostic programs are in English. To build the ALDL interface you can also use this page http://pweb.de.uu.net/pr-meyer.h/aldl.htm download the programs from http://www.pontiac-transsport.de/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=1 Greetings Bessi vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
