slave cylinder
therob 11-16-2003, 02:39 PM I have a 1989 cherokee and I am having a problem leaking clutch fluid. I narrowed it down to probalby the slave cylinder. I dont know very much about this subject, so I was wondering if you could tell me if the slave on my 89 model is internal or external, and how do I tell the difference? Thanks for any help. therob 11-18-2003, 11:35 PM bump** 89jcs 11-19-2003, 05:16 PM I am in the exact same boat as you are right now... I just got out from under my jeep. They are internal, the slave cylinder and throw-out bearing are one "unit." I started pulling the trans today, what a headache. peety p 05 01-07-2004, 09:32 PM That really was not what I was hoping to hear. I am having the same problem with my '91 Cherokee. sfguyer 01-08-2004, 12:58 AM I had the same thing done to mine because it was internal. believe it or not the slave was manufactured by Peugeot. Steve-o 01-09-2004, 09:09 PM Hey, just wanted to say I just finnished the same project, and yes it is a headache, just watch your master cylinder, two days after I changed mine, my master started leaking fluid back down into my jeep and covered my fuse box, it's still a mess.
