Keyless remote reprogramming

Just purchased a 1999 XJR with 14,322 miles original. Only problem is it only came with one ignition key and one keyless remote unit. Would like to purchase another keyless remote from eBay but need to know where to obtain instructions on how to reprogram it to my car.
Also, It's my understanding the ignition is a "transponder" key. How does get a second key and a valet key? Do they need programming also? If so, can I do it?

Thanks, V12Claws

You can buy the remote on Ebay for about $15.00. Your friendly Jag service shop (not dealer) can program it at no charge ( if youre lucky, as I was). make sure you match the numbers correctly...there are several near-misses out there. I read that you can place the two remotes side by side an press the alarm buttons until they match frequency to program them...but I dont know how which one would prevail...you may end up programming your original

The key is more difficult....there are no Ebay ones for sale for that year, and the dealer sends off to Jaguar to get one....wants about $100 for it,
and then wants another $90 to program it.....Outrageous...but worse still if you drop your key thru a hole in your pants and need the car towed to the dealer.
