Location of vehicle alarm for 1994 Ford Explorer
seanchurch 11-15-2003, 09:33 PM I am busy dismantling the dash of my 1994 Ford Explorer in an attempt to locate where the vehicle alarm is located. Does anyone know? I believe it’s a factory installed alarm. Back in the good old days, it had three modes: disarmed (during operation), armed, and “valet mode”? Valet mode disappeared about three years ago. Disarming via the remote just died for the last remote, after I changed the batteries due to decreasing remote broadcast distance ability. The other one is … cursed, I think. It just gave up the ghost a while back. The alarm system is rather simple: it locks the doors, and honks the horn when the alarm goes off. That’s why I think it is a factory device. I’ve changed the batteries in the remotes, and suddenly they don’t work with the alarm system. Remote type: Vehicle Protection Systems FCC ID: H83LEC8T Also, does anyone know the programming sequence for this type of remote? Thanks. ponchonutty 11-15-2003, 10:04 PM I am busy dismantling the dash of my 1994 Ford Explorer in an attempt to locate where the vehicle alarm is located. Does anyone know? Without looking through some of my books, I'd swear it's actually in the rear of the vehicle. It should be tied in with the doorlocks so if you unplug it, you'll lose those. What you want to do anyway? If you want to keep it from arming, I think there should be a DK GRN/PUR(-) wire in the driver's door jamb. If you constantly ground this wire, it will never re-arm. seanchurch 11-16-2003, 08:05 AM If I can get my hands on the alarm device, I would take it out onto a bench and use some electronics test equipment to diagnose what had gone south and see if I could repair it. That, or get a replacement unit and swap it in. The dashboard deconstruction project is allowing me to fix other little issues that have bothered me, but so far I have yet to chase where the alarm LED wire goes to, besides off into the guts of the dashbaord. seanchurch 11-17-2003, 02:21 PM Anyone have any idea where the alarm unit is located? cerealkiller696920 03-16-2004, 11:51 AM the alarm is located in the rear drivers side in the jack compartment it is a small box with three plugs just in front of the jack have fun.
