Hey,
I was wondering if anyone has any insight into why on the toyota canada site the 4dr toyota echo hatchback (which, except for minor body styling differences, is exactly the same car as the scion xA, including engine and drivetrain and they are the same weight as well) the MPG ratings (highway) are 51mph, yet here in the US it says 37 or 38 mpg everywhere instead?

Did the US version get different emissions tweaks? Or is the ECU different, or is the info down here just wrong? Anyone know what the scion xA's actually get after they are broken in? What have you guys been getting...

I'm just curious because I want to mod my scion for best fuel economy, and if I can just find out how the canadian one is different (if it is) and add and intake and a few other mods.. I want to see how high of a fuel economy I can get if I drive it very carefully, coast down hills, etc. It would be cool to approach 60mpg on the highway like a hybrid..

Also, anyone know if there are any small turbo kits that don't require ECU mods to work to boost a little power? If I can set the turbo to kick in only at high rpms, and never let the RPMS go that high during economical driving, I can have the best of both worlds, a bit of speed when I need it, and I get to keep awesome fuel economy.. Is this possible? Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks..

The Scion weighs more than the Echo.

In Canada they use Imperial Gallons, metric=4 liters. They are larger than U.S. gallons so they can drive more miles per gal.

Find some books on turbocharging and read them all. There is much to know before you install a turbo on YOUR car....

I'm very curious as well about the mileage ratings. The xA rated at 32/38 but I've been hearing that is you have a stick, and drive it relatively mild, you can get 38/42.

Does anyone know more about this?
