...i dont like how the mufflers make you sound like your doing 80mph when you are just driving 10mph in the parking lot.

He's got a point. Not to mention, it's ever so important for ricers to totally wind out first gear wherever they go

my dad says all the time, "making all that noise and aint going nowhere"

Import scene? I hear probably 5 or 6 times the trucks and muscle cars making a lot of noise but going nowhere as I do imports.

Yeah that how my town is also more muscle than rice but either way they payed for their exhaust systems so maybe they just like to hear them.

yeah, but when its invading on MY sensitive ears, then i'll just pay for their exhaust to have a run in with a potato.

*edit* anyone know where i can find ridiculously wide potato's?

Yea but you have to admit its cooler to hear a chevelle roaring and rumbling than a civic buzzing past you blasting rap.

Raspy buzzing Civic or backfiring and missing 84 Camaro. I'll take neither, please.

Some people have to get in into their heads that civics are not the only imports out there. The roar of a 2jz-gte is also an import. So is a 4G63. Both sound as good as a misfiring V8 with dual exhaust. And keep this in mind: most serious import tuners hate ricers as much as you do.

i actually like the buzzy sounding exhaust tones... the ones in some japanese videos of skylines and such...

i also like the roar of a mustang, music to my ears...

i dont like the mustle car imitator exhausts that make your windows shake when a civic drives by at 5mph...

Might want to use a turnip or something or if you run into onna deeese http://www.beaterz.com/reviews/0300/p49_mega_pipe/mega_pipe_back.jpg

I'd suggest a watermelon or maybe the head of the driver.

Overall I just think it's funny that each generation has the exact same criticism for the cars they drive. I just say get over it. An exhaust is an Exhaust. The point is to free up horsepower. Personally my favorite sound is turbo spool.

you cant replace the older muscle car sound. and holeeeeeey crap that is a big exhaust pipe.some imports sound really nice but others out like crap.i dunno what ever floats ya boat

exactly.

and americaneagle hit my other point as well (i guess i have no original ones...), its a simple way to free up hp.

imports can sound great, they can sound like shit.

domestics can sound great, they can sound like shit.

I specifically said civic because I realize there are some nice sounding imports out there but all I see are civics buzzing around with muffler tips the size of my tire.

I am guilty of being noisy...

I just put the new motor in ran just a glasspack that exited right underneath the car. I tell ya I couldn't even stand it, people around town said I had a shitty exhaust lol. I did find a lot more people did want to race me :grinno:

My biggest complaint would be the completely ridiculous hp claims some ricers make. Although, to be fair you get these in the domestic scene as well.

I suppose my problem is people in any camp who have no idea what they are talking about..and are so stupid they don't know it. Unfortunately for you import guys right now imports are hot so you have most of the losers.

As a Ford guy I remember when the V-8 fox body Mustang was the thing (If I hear one more weenie say 5-oh like it's the title of a rap song I am gonna go ballistic) and we had all the losers running around.

Just an FYI to the import guys who know what they are doing. Even when the import fad winds down (And they all cool down from time to time), if something Ford becomes the popular trend in their place we don't want the dorks back...okay?...you can keep 'em....lol

Only downside to being popular in the auto world is it is some kinda' loser magnet.

i never thought of it that way.

but it does make sense. the bigger the numbers (especially w/ younger crowds), the more "newbies" there will be.

very valid points.

There has been some EXCELLENT arguments presented here already, so I won't go over those, but I would just like to point out that you shouldn't just stereotype the "import scene" with this, as I see just as many Escorts, Focuses, Probes, Cavaliers, Berettas, Neons, Stratuses, Avengers, making the exact same noise.

Now if you had said the "sport compact scene", then yeah, I completely agree;)...

lol. When my friends muffler fell off the car, we decided to go cruising around at night. We had so many people wanting to race us :) My mothers car had her muffler going too and it was extremely loud. She had a lot of people try to race her.

Moral of the story, if you want to race lots, take off the muffler or get a "ricey" sounding exhaust.

What I don't get is why do dodge neon's get into the import scene? Do they not realize..its a dodge even if its riced out?

So imports are the only cars alowed to be modified, or are you calling the modding scene the import scene? :headshake

That's a good point. Remember when the Vipers first debuted? Those side exit exaust systems made them sound like a UPS truck.

I like the way Supra's sound with the straight 6. Took a little getting used to but it just grew on me. Came mostly from the videos I see on the internet but I've heard a couple on the road and they sound even better.

early Viper with side exhaust pipes - like vacuum cleaners? I agree those sound like crap.

Stop bitchin!!!
All everyone does on these threads is bitch about either RICERS or DOMESTICS. Eitherway a tuned Domestic usualy sounds just as bad as a Civic with a 6inch muffler. I rip a 3000GT VR4 and it sounds good. To me it sounds good, i dont care what anyone else has to say about it because the only time you will hear me is when im passing you.:)

But rilly who cares, people like what they like:)
