Hey all I have a couple of quick questions. Nothing serious, most purely cosmetic in nature.

I have a 1987 Honda Accord I picked it up about 4 months ago. Its been a great car so far but I'm starting to have a few issues with it and I don't know where to start.

1st I have the pop up style headlights however when I turn the headlights on they are set too low and I need to raise them higher. The problem is I don't know the best and easiest way to do it, and rather then mess it up I'd like to find out the best way before I start.

2nd The muffler is rattling against the heat shield at the back of the car. This has started to really annoy me. I went and had a look and it appears to be fastened to 2 steel pins by a couple of rubber blocks. The muffler isn't secure so its rattling sometimes which is driving me nuts. After a brief inspection I noticed there doesn't seem to be any way to secure the muffler short of installing some kind of bracing system, to secure it. The though of making a a shim out of some galvenized steel cross my mind however I'm thinking the darn thing will just end up rattling loose?

3rd Most importantly when the car is first started in the morning it has a tendancy for the RPM to surge. This usually only lasts a few minutes and once the engine gets warm it goes away. The surging is minor on about a 500 RPM swing, from 900 to 1400. I was curious what this might be? A fuel pump? Timing? You'd think it would occur more often if it was one of those two? Or that the engine would miss?

I dunno I'm posting here in the hope someone dealt with these kind of things before an knows an easy fix for some of them.

Thanks in advance for at least taking the time to read this.

If it's the LX-I (not sure on the other models), but it may be the IAC or one of those valves. Give us a little more info, and I'll be able to be a lot more specific :)

EXI.

I hope that's a bit more specific, sorry I'm still a bit of an ass clown when it comes to these cars I don't know anything about them. Sorry for the late reply. Been busier than a 1 legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Hey I had a 86 accord lx, and as for adjusting the flip up lights, all you need to do is turn in or out the adjustment screws located on the front of the headlight when flipped up, they are inside a couple of little holes so they are not just sticking out in plain daylight, fairly easy to find though. So just turn on your lights and watch where they point. shouldn't leave another cars bumper on dims and should shine right into another cars cab on brights. Hope this helped.
