BUt I would probably have any defects in it fixed when I buy it. JD@af 03-17-2001, 04:44 PM Poor soul. I too would be upset if my quarter million dollar sports car were falling apart. But, Enzo, I would take an AWD Diablo over a Ferrari 550 or 456 :p super 96 accord 05-09-2001, 07:05 PM AT the SEMA show down in vegas a couple months back, there was a lambo in the same booth right next to a red F40. Needless to say, the lambo was getting NO, NONE whatsoever attention. Adam 05-09-2001, 07:44 PM WOW! the diablo's not built for reliability it's produced for looks and performance of course it's gonna fall apart:rolleyes: its for looks and performance, not your cadillac primera man 05-09-2001, 09:50 PM Poor rich bugger...if he's that unhappy with it i'll take it of his hands. Porsche 05-28-2001, 08:22 AM LOL, he was also complaining about looking like a fool locked inside his own Purple car. JTS 06-28-2001, 11:20 PM I saw this pic, but I have no idea what kind of Diablo it is. Any one here know the story? AWDiablo 07-25-2001, 04:01 PM Diablos are for being naughty in. Build quality has improved - but it's not the best in the world. Same can be said for Ferrari - I've had a 550 - and after hard use - it complains heavily! My previous 98 SV was loud, quick and fun. I did over 10,000Kms in it in sun, rain, snow, hail - no problems. You HAVE to use them to keep all the parts working correctly. Just picked up a new 2001 model - 2 WD as opposed to the VT - 550bhp and understeering is not allowed! Build quality much better - but not perfect. But hey - who cares?!!!! igor@af 07-25-2001, 04:16 PM You've said it AWDiablo. "Build quality much better - but not perfect. But hey - who cares?!!!! Was there performance considerations for your choice of 2wd or were there other factors? Just curious. No one could find out why, some people even said there is a ghost in the car. finally some smart buggar found the problem was some sencor broke down behind the start key thing. but a lambo leaking? i never experience that, they are built to last, unless if that guy treats it like a hooker... scumbag 07-27-2001, 03:06 PM Originally posted by super 96 accord AT the SEMA show down in vegas a couple months back, there was a lambo in the same booth right next to a red F40. F 40 is one heck of a car.....sparce on the interior. Piccies will follow - been very busy. Was at Magny Cours this weekend following the Supertrophy GTR - great weekend. Drove the 'fictional' car all the way there and back - it was awesome. Won't quite go into the speeds driven in France - but it was fun! Much better than the 98 SV - much more stable above 1x0 mph. (x is not a small number!) Piccies to follow - they're on my laptop - not on this system. Reasons for 2WD - over 4WD (VT) - simple:- 550hp and under steer is NOT allowed. Also, with the chassis being stiffer than the 98 SV, not to mention reducing weight by over 80 KG - the throttle responce is better - better power to weight - better gear change (no viscous coupling etc.) Rear wheel drift out of high speed corners is easy to control - if you've driven a Diablo you know that you need to understand physics (i.e. lift off in the middle of a corner and the rear will want to go the other way - better have some corrective lock dialed in when you do it...) - but there is absolutley no need to be intimidated by it as the cars setup is so good that the chassis and steering tell you whats going on. It really is much better...honest! If any of you went to Magny Cours, my car was one of the 2 Black MY2001 Diablo's. UK registered (the other black - <VT> was German) the only visable difference is a larger centrally placed Lamborghini badge on the rear - with no VT badge in the corner. Mine was also covered in dead insects - due to using it! :flipa: gang$tarr 08-01-2001, 11:37 PM if you own a diablo could you buy me a car? Just like a cheap little civic or something? AWDiablo 08-11-2001, 06:10 PM :flash: Abstract - the 98 SV went for the MY2001 6.0 2WD special edition. I've racked up 3000 miles in just over a month - the car is loosening up nicely. Can't wait to hit 5000 when I think the gearbox will be just right. 6.0 is soooo muc better - although I still love the MY98 SV - hence the special edition 2 WD - never liked the VT. Have a deposit on the new Diablo replacement - I'm off to the factory on 6/7/8 Spetmeber for a viewing - can't wait - should be fun. I've seen the latest 'scoop' pictures - looks much better than the canto - although I'm very concerned that they seem to be focusing on build quality (which is nice - but not what makes a Lambo a Lambo - if you follow!) Have attached another piccie of the MY98 SV. I'm off to Donnington in a fortnight to watch the GTR racing again...can't wait! :licker: S Brake 08-12-2001, 05:04 PM Originally posted by abstract AWDiablo, your plates are kind of evil. Yeah they are, if i were you i'd get some new ones:eek: abstract 08-13-2001, 02:06 AM AWDiablo I have been considering a second Diablo. My dealer is really trying to push a Blue Ely/Snowcorn 6.0 VT on me. What advice can you give me? Should I get the 6.0? What do you like and dislike about it, or should I just wait for the new model? Thanks, I would appreciate your input. abstract 08-13-2001, 02:35 AM Originally posted by AWDiablo :flash: I've racked up 3000 miles in just over a month - the car is loosening up nicely. Can't wait to hit 5000 when I think the gearbox will be just right. :licker: I am the same way. I love driving my car and I have racked up quite a few miles in the time that I have owned it. I know some people who just keep them locked in their garages. There is nothing wrong with that, but I personally would not buy a supercar and leave it at home. Kudos to you for driving it like it is supposed to be driven. superposition 08-13-2001, 03:53 AM abstract : I agree so much with you on how we should enjoy the car instead of stashing them in the garage hehe. Oh I have a question for you. Is it actually very expensive to maintain a Lamborghini? :) abstract 08-13-2001, 02:53 PM The maintenance on my Diablo have been for the most part painless. The biggest reoccurring problem I have is that my clutch pin slips out once every 6 or 7 months. I have occasional electrical problems, like a window not working, but other than that, my car is solid. Platinum Motors, in Santa Ana California, is one of the only authorized Lamborghini dealerships in So. Cal, and their mechanic there (Courtney) says that diablo engines are bulletproof. Even if something does go wrong, I am covered for practically everything under my warranty, except of course for wear and tear. It is just the little things that need fixing every once in a while. But don't get me wrong, it is not a walk in the park, an oil change costs me $700, tune ups cost me $3,000. superposition 08-13-2001, 10:25 PM abstract : Thx for posting man, I must say $700 for an oil change's kinda steep isn't it? heheh oh well, better than being a dreamer like me :) AWDiablo 08-18-2001, 02:49 PM Hi abstract I would say - go for the 6.0. The chassis is MUCH better - the engine has more low down torque (kinda irrelavent, I know :o) ) the throttle response is better - BUT the VT although being an awesome car - is not what Lambo's are about - in my opinion. The two wheel drive cars is sooooooo much better - they are only special order - but I would not hesitte in recommending them. The gear change - bizzarly - is much better on the 2WD (viscous coupling ????) And the added bonus of loosing 80+ KGs of weight. But - overall the 6.0 VT is a better car than my old 98 SV. Although I rate my new 6.0 2WD as the best (bar a GT). :alien: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
