I went to the dealership and they could not find the block number I had listed. Does each block have a different number? If not how do the police find out a motor is from a stolen car and which car it was? This number came of the section of block with the cylinders in it 12557808-002. I want to know what year model car it came from not that it was made between 95 and 99. Where can I find all service bulletins on the web?

You can find the service bulletins at www.alldata.com.

For a small fee(Alldata). Okay, some more hot air from Indy8, ready? You will find that getting real help or real answers from a dealership parts counterperson or even the service manager, depends a great deal on the kind of day they are having. And it does not matter if you just walk in without dropping any cash, or if you are paying a $1500 tab to pick-up your car. The person "helping" you may not be sharp enough with the software or too embarrassed to ask for help. Who knows? But there IS a way to look up that block number and the dealership DOES have the resources to do it. That's what makes it so frustrating. That dealer elitist attitude. One out of six of their techs are better than average. They have all the correct equipment, that's their advantage. Unless you develop a friendship with one of the employees, your best bet for info is to find a local independent shop who has invested serious $ in the same correct equipment. Sure, they are in business to make money too but at least they will usually talk to you at length about the problem that you're having along with some advice. Instead of "bring it in and leave it" for days until they get around to ripping you off! I'm done.

Cool career choice! Just make sure you're the one out of six.
