Battery change-outGeorge4 11-04-2003, 09:29 PM I put a new battery in and when I tried to connect the Positive cable...sparks, horn honks, wipers run, and burned out the fusible link. Where did I screw up and how can I fix it, OR is it a tow to the dealership? Thanks, airgun 11-07-2003, 03:26 PM Man it almost sounds like you put the positive side on without first attaching the ground wire. Also sounds like a major surge, was your ignition on? I know that if you put the poles on incorrectly that it can do that too hope thats not the case -- It screws up the computer somehow, dont know exactly. George4 11-10-2003, 02:18 PM Ok, I admit it. Between rain showers, trying to beat the next shower; I ran out of the garage, battery in hand and slapped it in BACKWARDS! Now, I just hope I can find a fusible link to replace the burned out one and that I didn't screw something else up. danielthechskid 05-08-2004, 10:33 PM Unfortunatly you may have just instantly fried the SBEC, TCM, alternator diodes, radio, and god knows what else in the car by doing that one simple mistake vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
