If im currently using 55 and 65 watt bulbs, if I change to 85 and 100 watt bulbs will I have any problems?

I know that on Nissans (& Infinitis of course) the higher wattage bulbs will cause you to melt the stock wire harnesses attatched to the bulbs . . .

I've heard of people using heavier gauge wiring to compensate for this . . .

Not sure if there is a similar possibility on Hondas but, you might want to consider that.

Im not sure what kind of bulbs are in there right now (most likely some generic brand). But im thinking about getting Opti-blue bulbs.

Opti blue bulbs are excellent! :sun: I had a pair of those as my first set of hyperwhites, and had them for about a year, when the filament on one of them broke, so the whole light was useless then. I'd get another pair of Opti Blues again, right now I'm running a set of Hiper Ind. Super Plazmas, which I'd also recommend. For Hondas, you shouldn't have any trouble with heat or the wires/harnesses to the bulb meleting, I've had hypers on my car for about 1½ years no, and no problems with that what-so-ever! :) But I think that really only applies for like '94 and newer Hondas because I've heard of older ones than that having melting problems, but on my '00 Civic, no melting problems. :)

I really dont want to risk melting wires.. so what do you guys think about this... getting the reg. 55 watt ultra white matrix bulbs for the low beams. Then getting the 100 watt opti-blue bulbs for the high beams , and since I wouldnt be using the high beams that much , I wouldnt risk melting anything..

I think that should work just fine. :) I've seen the Matrix bulbs, and they look pretty nice.

there is a chance that you will either burn your wires, the plastic light bulb power supply or they will explode.

I've run two sets of higher wattage bulbs, the first one was great, lasted for 8 months. the only problem i had was that when it burnt out, i left it in connected for a couple of days while i was waiting for new bulbs. Well, the bulb melted half of my 9006 connection, luckily it's still perfectly usable.

My second set lasted for 45 days (after the warranty) and cost me 60$. I noticed that the bulb was half lit, luckily i took it out because i noticed that it had turned funky and had a crack along the base of the bulb, another ph member left the bulb in and he had it explode.

my friend w/ a teg has had his wires melt, and the outershell begin to melt from the heat, another friend with an acc has went through 2 pairs this year.

If you want to play it safe, go for the same wattage or buy hid's.

But, I dont think it would have a change to burn out or get to hot if I only had the higher watt bulbs in my high beams. Because I wouldnt be using my brights all the time... or does that matter? If its going to melt it even if I dont use them alot , I'll just stick with the lower watt bulbs.

higher wattage bulbs should be fine for your high beams since those aren't on all the time.

A good rule of thumb though, this is something I've done since day one, I carry my OEM stock bulbs my car originally came with, just incase on of my hyperwhites were to ever burn out in the middle of the night. I also keep them in my car, incase a cop was to ever not like my hyper whites. I also keep my OEM corner bulbs in my car as well, again, just in case....
