Hi all just signed up to this forum....
anyways i've just bought a camry for cheap and theres a problem with the transmission i think. whenever i shift into 3rd gear while going over 40kmph, i get this crunching sound. it sounds like the clutch pedal isn't fully depressed. this is weird cuz thats the only gear it happens in and only when going over 40kmph. if i'm doing 39kmph and pop it into 3rd, it just slides right in. doesn't matter if i'm shifting up o down into 3rd. anyone have any ideas what might be wrong? its driving me nuts thinking i might have a damaged tranny.....

also my idle rpm is between 1100 and 1400 rpms which i think is pretty high. don't know what could be causing this. suggestions anyone?

cheers

Your clutch might be worn out (or just damaged) and cannot operate as smoothly at that speed, just see how much it would cost to get it inspected before deciding that the clutch is the problem.

With the idle speed, does your engine sound unusualy loud? If not, did sombody mess with your cluster/needles? I dont really know the awnser to your problems, im just giving suggestions of what it could be.
