Headlight modification question

I recently installed a "high four headlight kit" into my '01 Sierra. I now intend to upgrade the bulbs. New bulbs are 85watt lowbeam, and 100 watt highbeam. Will the factory wires have the capacity to carry the extra current???? Thanks, Bob.

I put the higher wattage "fake HID" bulbs in my Sierra and have had no problems. I have heard horror stories of folks burning their wires up, but basically I think that could only happen if you replace the fuse with a bigger amperage size. To the best of my knowledge, that wire comes from the factory rated to carry as much amperage as the stock fuse can handle, and mine hasnt blown the fuse yet. If you do upgrade I think youll be very happy, it makes night vision so much better. good luck

I also, was sure that the wires were heavey enough for the extra wattage, normally. But with a "high four kit" installed, the low beams stay on with the high beams. this is accomplished with a diode between the two circits, and would result in the wattage of both low & high beams traveling through the high beam wires. Guess I'll install the bulbs and see if the fuse blows. If so, then I'll pull a heavier guage wire into the bundle to replace the original.
Thanks for the response, Bob.
