I like the new M3 but heard that it has a bad tranny design. There are clunk noises when shift. Just wondering how reliable is the car overall(tranny, engine, electrical...) is it break down alot. How is it compare to a CLK430? Thanks.

The car really hasn't been out long enough to give proper comments on its reliability.... any car should run perfectly for the first few years, 30,000 miles.

I had a friend whose E46 M3 broke down after 800 miles :( He was just doing normal driving on the expressway and had to have his car towed...

I've heard of a guy who blew his motor under normal driving. I've also heard of the clutch not being right and having premature wear. They took the clutch right out of the M5 for the M3, but apparently it's having problems.
