Temp gage quit working, stays on ice cold. Check Engine light also on which I suspect is due to this.Everything else with the cooling system working fine, fans, recirculation pump, ect. Which sending unit is it, or could it be something weird like German Engeneering?

I had the temp guage quit on mine 24v VR6 (2002 GLI) apparently the coolant jug can leak on to the wiring harness shorting out the temp guage - beleive it or not now they are replacing the jug, harness, and instrument cluster under warranty to fix what went wrong on mine. It staretd with the temp, then fuel guage too.
