Semi-completed 911GT3awaken1973 12-07-2001, 07:20 PM This is probably my longest project. I repainted the body 3 times, rubbed slightly to the primer :( so it need another coat of yellow to cover imperfections http://images.fotki.com/free/6687/1/11197/62393/911gt3-under-or.jpg awaken1973 12-07-2001, 07:30 PM awaken1973 12-07-2001, 07:39 PM S Brake 12-07-2001, 07:42 PM nice, i have a ups GT3 that is run in the petit lemans or something like that. awaken1973 01-11-2002, 07:14 PM I completed my 4th paint job (painjob? ) on 911GT3 body Of course it looks crappy but I DON'T WANNA TOUCH IT ANYMORE! The last attemt was the most successfull 'cause I warmed spray can well before use. Paint flows better and creates glossy finish after curing. It would be better to rub and polish it then but I'm afraid to rub it to the primer as it was... which forced me to add another coat of paint So finally it will be completed "as is" (i.e. crappy) Oh, it's so painful CRX_SOON 01-11-2002, 07:33 PM all i get are fotki logo pics:( awaken1973 01-11-2002, 10:44 PM all i get are fotki logo pics I'm too! Are you using BMF on the window trim? awaken1973 01-12-2002, 02:13 PM Not a bad job with the brush. Are you using BMF on the window trim? No it's a bare primer. Since I screwed up all body work with airbrush I invented my own practice. I paint window trim in black before body color. Then I mask off window area and spray the body. After this there is a little tint of body color on the edges of black trim. I fill it with brush and thinned black paint the same way as with door shut lines. It works only if there is a good groove cut along the window trim CRX_SOON 01-12-2002, 10:42 PM Originally posted by awaken1973 http://images.fotki.com/free/083b/1/11197/77228/porsche5-or.jpg i am painting the entire underbody of my carrera flat black. i don't understand why in the hell someone would take the time and extra $$$ to paint it body color!! awaken1973 01-13-2002, 02:28 AM In fact bottom of most cars painted in body color. But it can't be glossy and shiny so flat is OK For more realism it could be airbrushed in brown or black around the wheel arches ot represent road dirt. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
