Good day
I recently bought our 2000, and I now have a problem with the power sliding door not shutting. I push the button and the door moves to the close position, but when it touches the switch module to lock, the door returns to the open position. Does anyone know of an eay fix on this?
I dont want to spend over $1000 at the dealership if I dont have to.
I have already tried cotton swab with alchohol, worked a little but still malfuntions.

please respond with advice
thanks

there was a recall on all GM mini vans, not sure of the years but they fix it free of charge reguardless if you bought it new or used.

Check for bad/binding weather stripping around the door, then check for toys/debris in the frame under the weather stripping. You will have to get down on your knees to see in there. Try doing the "Reset" procedure in the manual. Then go to the dealer!

This is usually caused by a dirty/worn switch that is attached to the rear latch mechanism. It senses when the door is closed. The latch must be removed to clean or replace it. Sometimes you can get by with adjustment of the rear striker and a good lubrication...

Our 2001 has been doing the samething since last summer. We have yet to get it fixed because the dealer can't find anything wrong. It's nice to go out to the mall or where ever, and come out several hours later to find your door has been opened the entire time.

The electronics have already been replaced once, in the sumer 2002 because the door would just stop in the middle of opening or closing.

Is the rear latch something easy to get to?

Here's my first post on this forum:

Try cleaning the contacts (the multiple finger-like things and the pad they contact with) with something like goo-gone or some other degreaser. This worked on my van (just bought a 97 a week ago). If it works it definately cheaper than any of the alternatives.

My 2002 has the exact same problem, has been back to dealer 4 or 5 times, has been re-progammed and dealership has tried several other things but they can't seem to fix it

I had the same problem. Used light sandpaper on the contacts both on the pins and the door frame. Problem fixed, no cost. Had to redo it about 9 months later, still no cost.
