"E"conomic "L"uxury?Jay! 04-05-2001, 05:48 AM Wasn't the EL the "luxury" Civic, and sold only in Canada, where I thought Acura didn't exist anyway? How much leather do you need in a Civic? Heep 04-20-2001, 09:07 PM Yeah, the EL is Canada only. It's just a luxury 4-door Civic that looks WAY better (IMO). Acura is strong in Canada, we have all the Acura's you do plus more. The EL is basically the same idea as the Infiniti G20. i_rebel 05-17-2001, 11:08 AM Heep . . . what do you mean by that? The Civic EL = what? Mylacc 12-01-2001, 06:31 PM is it a car? a trim? and is it acura or honda? do canada have acura or is that a singly usa differential RevHappy Cowboy® 12-06-2001, 01:23 AM Originally posted by Mylacc is it a car? a trim? and is it acura or honda? do canada have acura or is that a singly usa differential I'll answer these in reverse order: -We have Acura up here, in fact, our Acura lineup has more cars than the US. -The EL is marketed under the Acura name, just like the Integra (RSX), in Japan the 1.6EL is rebadged as the Honda Domani, it is a reverse import from Canada, all ELs are made in Canada. -It's a car, the 1st (97~98) and 2nd (99~00)Gen 1.6ELs have 3 trims, the SE(base), Sport, and Premium. The 3rd gen 1.7 EL (2001~present) has 2 trims, Touring and Premium. All trims differ from each other by equiptment level, only Premium trims from all gens have leather. Details for the 1.7EL can be found at www.acura.ca As for the 1st & 2nd Gen 1.6EL I'll post their specs if you really want to read through all of it :toothless EL'ation 12-25-2001, 10:05 PM Originally posted by RevHappy Cowboy® -It's a car, the 1st (97~98) and 2nd (99~00)Gen 1.6ELs have 3 trims, the SE(base), Sport, and Premium. It's a 2nd generation. 97-00 model is basically the same thing except the grille, the side folding mirrors and polished rims for Premium models.
