Have anyone converted an intrigue to Manual. How did you do it and how much did it cost. I have a 1998 intrigue and would love to have a manual shifter (5 speed)

After knowing people who did the auto-to-manual conversions on F-Body and Y-Body cars, I can think of absolutely no logical reason to try this on a car that never came from the factory with a manual trans option. All the people that I know who tried this would never do it again. It is a huge amount of work on a modern car as you must think about all kinds of sensors that are used in the operation of the vehicle.

If you want more out of your Turanny Just get a Performance Shift Kit stage 3

I would just recommend getting a performance shift kit like knights said. Most of the time for drag racing (in a straight line only) automatics can shift far faster than any human could.

here is some info on are Performacne shift Kit for the Intrigue.

This kit allows the tailoring of your shift feel to the way YOU like it. You select the improvement desired modification level from mild (noticeable improvement) to wild ("bang-screech", our personal favorite:-) that best suits your taste and driving style. This kit can be installed in a driveway by any competent shadetree mechanic in about 1 hour with hand tools, jack stands, drip pan (for tranny fluid), and a torque wrench. Detailed instructions are included.

The kit uses a dual spring setup (similar to a valve spring) and precision height shims which are placed inside the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulators. The accumulators are piston and spring assemblies located inside the valve body of the transmission which control the rate at which fluid pressure gets applied to the clutch packs when shifting gears. The valve body is located above the pan on the bottom of the transmission. (While you're in there you might as well change the filter.) Slow pressure rise means a soft shift. A rapid rise gives a quick positive shift yielding minimal slip

Factors such as spring pressure, accumulator cylinder volume, piston travel, pump capacity, and line pressure all interact to yield shift time and slip. By controlling several of these parameters simultaneously the shift quality can be altered to a more acceptable level.

- Clutch life is improved because of the reduced shift time. Anytime you are between gears you are slipping the clutches until you reach the point where they lockup. This wears the clutches and generates heat. Less time on the shift = less clutch wear and heat buildup.
