SC Starting

I have a '90 SC that ran great until the last time I shut it down. Now it cranks but won't make any attempt to start. It sounds like the fuel pump is OK. My regular mechanic says that he can not diagnose it and knows nobody who can. I would appreciate any help I can get short of taking it to a dealer :swear:

Im not exactly sure which computer/ diagnostics routine the 90 uses but id start by gettin the check codes from the engine computer, that should tell you what is going on. I dont know why the mechanic you took it to told you he couldnt look at it, unless he simply hasnt worked on Ford engine control computers before. Almost sounds like a bad crank position sensor or a bad mass air sensor. Whatever it is you should see that check engine light of yours flashing while you are tryin to start the car, if not then you could even have lost your engine computer. Id start by seeing if your gettin any spark, thats a sure sign, if ya got nothin its most definately a bad sensor.......

Try and look at that diagnostic plug and see if you can get a checker at Autozone or some other auto parts store, shouldnt set you back too much, thats an aged computer control system in that car and the checkers should be pretty cheap by now.

Anyways good luck!!!!!!
