I was just wondering if I could use a p73 (Type R) ecu in a GSR, and what, gains or losses it would give.I know the rev limiter would be higher, and i think the vtec kick in at higher rpm's.Thx.

I think you'd have to change your cam profiles to take advantage of increased redline, though I know its not much. Plus the aftermarket ECUs usually lower the VTEC engagement, this one raises it. I believe that the Type R ECU was thoroughly made for the Type R to compliment it and all its components(more agressive cams, higher compression, lsd) in most all ways possible. Unless you're running a similar setup, you might gain a little since the type r probably has a better fuel map plus its programmed for stock 4-1 headers. One of our local shops is making OBD1 ECUs that plug right in to OBD2s. Its $360 which includes programming and installation and he customizes it for you and it doesnt even require a harness. A Hondata rep visited him awhile ago, so you may see it carried by Hondata pretty soon, just expect to pay a little more.

you can use it as long as the GSR you are putting it on is 96+ (OBDII)
its not going to give you alot of power, or anything you will notice alot, but it should help out in some areas.
