Hi all, Just got a 96 riviera s/c and had a few questions. here goes, I was wondering if any parts that fit on the GTP's will fit on the riviera?(example : supercharger pully, K and N intake, transmission cooler, ect.) cause I see all these parts and them some on the grand prix store. Any info would be great.

do you have a series 2 L67 supercharged? If so and I think you should you can use the CAI, smaller pulley, shift kit, ignition, cam, exhaust, most all the engine parts. this engine was the same in all GM products. hope that helps. I would suggest starting with the CAI(cold air intake) check out the speedbuilt at pfyc.com, then change the s/c pulley at pulleyboys.com, you can also do away with resonator and u bend in the exhaust,helps releave back pressure. these are quick cheap mods that you will feel right away! the pulley swap is a bit trickey you need a puller and you may want to let a pro do this. you should be able to go to any pontiac or buick dealer and have this done. pontiac dealer prob best they see more s/c engines. Start checking out the diff sites and have fun! you will be suprised have quick you can make your car. If you have any oyher questions ask away, I'll be glad to help.

Thanks for the help, I do have the series 2 engine so im good to go. I did plan on doing those mods CAI,U-bend fix, pulley. If I get the pulley tool it should slide off kinda like a harmonic balancer...right?? also what kind or spark plug/wires do you suggest? Thanks

I could help. I tried the ngk v plugs and diddnt care for them. I guess my car dont like them! same with the autolites. I have had the best luck with the ac platnium plugs. I run the msd 8.5 wires along with msd coils GREAT! The wires were about the same as the oem ac wires in price. And alot better! Get a semstress ruler and check your OD on exhaust should be 2and a1/4 then go to any muffler shop and buy a 6foot piece with one end flanged. If you cant weld or dont have someone to do it you can get a exact measurment from just behind the cat to the ehaust before it splits to go in to the mufflers and get both ends flanged and use clamps. Where do you live? I will check this post everyday If you need anything feel free to ask. I also have the master service manuals! All the tech info you could ever need!

I missed your pulley question. It is kinda like a harmonic balancer, but not near as much room for error! I have read posts on others who have smoked the charger. the key is using a proper tool. and being carefull around the threads. Not saying you cant do it, just be careful! take your time and do it when your fresh with no aggresion in your system!! You know the kind when you been fighting those stupid azz "quick" hose clamps on the radiator. Who ever came up with those needs slaped! Even the the gm techs throw them away and put the good ole clamps on. I learned the hard way. You should flush the anti freeze right away if you have not already. Replace stat with a 180. and make sure you get seal and gasket! seal goes on stat, gasket goes between manifold and housing. The flush will save your engine! Take care of your trans too! these trans are week to start with. You should change fluid and filter once a year. Trust me they cost ass much to replace as the engine. Love your car and treat it well and it will give you years of good service! If you learn to listen she will tell you when somthing is wrong.

Cool, No prob. To change the s/c oil jack the left side(as if you were setting in the car) get a turkey baster and a clear air line that will fit in the s/c oil hole, I think mine is 1/4" and just suck as much as you can get out. It will take almost 2 bottles to fill. Check to see after about 1 1/2 were your at. Do you know how to check s/c fluid level? Laters

No i dont know how to check the s/c oil level.

Opps, I forgot to ask...is there any type of a filter I need to replace when I do the s/c oil change? and the black cap that is on the base of the s/c snout is where I empty and re-fill the oil right??? thanks

First and most important do this when engine is cool, should set 2to3 hours. and clean the head of the screw well before starting,you dont want any poss. contamanation. You should see some weepage around the seal, this is normal. Its just blow-by.There is a allen head bolt behind the pully shaft, you need to remove the cover(the one on top of the s/c that says seriesIIsupercharged) To check the fluid level you take that screw out,wipe it with a lint free rag! fluid level should touch the bottom of the threads in this hole. Use only OEM s/c fluid. GM part #12345982. Heres where things get tricky, Eaton the manufacture claims this to be a sealed maintance free s/c. But is it really? would you not change your engine oil just because it has synthetic oil in it? Thats what they seem to think. There are some people that have said GM put out a bulletin regarding this very issue. I have yet to conform this. They still say proper fluid level is all you need to do. I belive this is out of concearn for contamanation. I wont suggest anything, you need to decide for your selves weather you should change or not. I do once a year, but take caution to make sure that I clean every thing well first. The s/c cost about as much as the engine! What ever you do, Just be careful. There is no filter. and the black cap if i understand you right should be a nut that holds the pulley on. not sure what you are reffering to, but thats the only logical think that I could think you may be looking at.

Well the black "cap" that I was talking about has a allen or a hex shaped head like you said so that is the fill/re-fill hole. Sorry, I dident describe it all that great. Where do I purchase the factory service manuals like you have? Thanks

Diddnt mean to sound like a azz! just the cap thing threw me. Hope that the other info was helpful. prob is I dont have much background info on you, so not sure how much of this you can do or not. You would be suprised how many people I have told how to do somthing and then had to go fix their mastakes! So anymore I try to be more cautious, so dont take it personal. As far as the manuals are concearned they are very hard if not near imposable to get a hold of now. they have not made a rivi for what 5yrs now. you could prob find a mitchell but they are very vague in comparson. Might try E-bay, or ask around your local dealer. The were hard to get to begin with and rather pricy to boot. I will be more than happy to copy a section on any problem you come across and e-mail it to you. Like I said before, dont mind helping a fellow rivi brother out!

Dont worry I dident take anything personal. And I WILL keep you in mind when I plan on doing some bolt on's .....oh let me know if you happen to stumble across some service manuals....im going to keep my eyes open for a set of those.

Ya, I will do the pulley, CIA, thermostat, trans-cooler, and fix the u-bend in the exhaust. I dont plan on making it a "drag car" I just want to have fun with it, and the closest drag way to me is New England dragway ( about an 1 1/2 hrs away).

I have the service manual for my 95 Riv. My local Buick dealer placed an order with the publisher. The manual is only good for 95 Riv and Aurora. It comes in two books, each several inches thick. I would imagine much of the information would be valid for other years.
