nucesone - WTF are you talking about? The GTS hatches go from 85 to 87. After that, GTS' only came in FWD layout with no hatches, just coupe styling. Anywhere between 85 and 87 was RWD, also known as the AE86. I should know seeing as I have one of each year.

I've got a 85 Corolla, 130K miles,
for sale. It's located in Chicago, IL.

I'm selling because it's rusted out and
has other problems, and I don't have
the time to work on it any more.

The car runs fine. It always starts in
one or two seconds. And it passed the
Illinois State emissions test on 9/12/03:

HC CO

Allowable 2.00 30.0
Tested .35 2.6

Main problems:

* Left rear shock absorber is rusted out.
* There's a leak in the gas tank.
* The emergency brake doesn't grip.
* Left front brake pad is worn out.
* A/C non-functional due to loss of Freon.
* Body is rusted all along the bottom edge.
* Battery is on its last legs.
* Age of timing belt is unknown.

Main pluses:

* All engine and transaxle components.
* Radiator.
* Heater.
* CV joints.
* Tires.
* All glass.
* Radio (no cassette or CD player).

It's such a good runner, I hate to drive it
to the wrecking yard. It would be like
shooting a faithful old hunting dog because
he has the mange.

Make me an offer.

i think nuceone is getting specific. i think 85's through 86's were called corolla RWD liftbacks. and the 87 fx and fx-16's were the hatchbacks. i dunno. just my guess.
