U Jointtransamdude95 09-21-2003, 03:14 PM Hey! I was wondering if anybody here has ever replaced the u joints on a late 80's model honda accord. If so, is it a tough job? Expensive? Thanks! WickyWickyScratch 09-21-2003, 03:22 PM What is a U joint? What do they do? BullShifter 09-21-2003, 03:42 PM Accords dont have U joints, they have CV joints. A U joint(Universal Joint) is something that connects between the transmission & rear differential allowing the shaft to turn during suspension travel. Some FWD have U-joints, some RWD cars have U-joints on the rear axles. If you do replace your CV joints, I suggest replacing both axles with reman. parts. Its not hard, the only hard part without air tools is removing the axle nut. CV joint - Constant Velocity joint transamdude95 09-21-2003, 03:53 PM Thanks for the info! How much would the remanufactured axles cost? BullShifter 09-21-2003, 03:57 PM Reman. axles usually run $60.00 - $90.00(each) there will be a core charge on your old axles - you get that back when you return your old axles. I dont recommend junk yard axles, yes you could be lucky & get good ones. Chances are you be replacing them. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
