Howdy. Recently bought a 2000 Suburban LS with 48000 miles on it. Seems like the car does not have the get go a 285 horse engine should give it. Sometimes have trouble starting as it takes more than one try. Also, engine has died a couple of times when idling at a signal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yes probably the filter but, if power doesn't come back then you need a fuel pump. Read my thread "Suburban fuel pump" and it may shed more light on your problem.
