I've read a few posts about people scratching their plastic instrument panels while wiping dirt from them. Here's a tip that is too simple, or maybe not manly enough that it's been overlooked and works great.

Use a household feather duster. It takes the dirt right off and doesn't scratch up the plastic.

I have used this for over ten years! They are electrostatically charged dust mop for doing your dash. You periodically recharge them by running across the front of your TV. Works great, no scratches on plastic instrument panel. :)

I just use one of those pledge "grab-its".

Just wipe gently, dont press down too hard.
Plus you can keep it in the car and use it whenever (like waiting at a stop light).

I havent had any problems in my X, but maybe the early 2000's were built better :flipa: .

When the panel gets scratched (it will get scratched eventually:licker: ). There is a product called "Fritz", there are other brands too. It is a metal polish, I know, I know...... metal:bloated: . The polish is actually an optically clear polymer that gets into the scratches. You apply it liberally and polish it like you do wax. The stuff works awsome on instrument panels and plastic headlight and tail light lenses. It won't fill all scratches, but the really fine one that make the plastic look hazy just disappear.:smoker2:

I believe you meant Flitz, not Fritz, correct?

Went through a ton of that stuff (or so it seemed) during and after the time I took my RC hobby car with me on vacation to the beach for 2 weeks long ago. Salt air does all kinds of things to various parts, and the Flitz spiffed 'em back up nicely.

The tube I have doesn't have any writing left on it. I used it quite a bit on my mustang to get the headlights and instrument pannel cleaned up.

I neglected one of my 220 yr old Samurai swords and Flitz took of the surface rust.

The new Swifter cleaning cloths/pads work GREAT for picking up dust/dirt.

Any store that sells mops or cleaning supplies.
