ford taurus transaxle transmission warning light. why?
kumpelbasis 09-05-2003, 12:44 PM hi, recently the warning light "check transaxle" comes on while driving over 65mph for a couple of min... stoping the car, turning the engine off and on again turns the light off... but as soon as I drive again over 65mph... it goes on again... I had the car at the ford service and asked by what this is caused. They checked the fluid and said it looks good. Offered to run a computer check for 500.-... does someone knows by what sensor this is caused...or why this light comes on? car details: 100k miles, model 2000 (wagon) 3.0 V6 engine but no problems with shifting (yet). answers appreciated! pdxtim 12-16-2003, 06:15 PM Kumpelbasis - Did you ever receive a fix for this Ford Taurus problem? I am in the same boat. Thank you. pdxtim@comcast.net or tim.dickhaus@dhl.com dpereyra 08-31-2005, 12:03 PM I had the same problem. Light kept coming on but I couldn't get it to stay on for diagnosis. Happened when car was under warranty but dealer strung me along, telling me that if the light doesn't stay on it's really not a problem, and now at 110K total failure. 2200K. I've heard you can try changing your fluid but my guess is that it is a sign of pending doom. Don't drive far with light on but if it does come on bring it to a service station immediately for diagnoses. If you don't have a consious, sell the car now. A new tranny might cost you more then buying a same year used Tauri with a good trans. nemo566 08-31-2005, 09:33 PM Go To Auto Zone And Have Pull The Codes And I Could Tell You Whats Wrong Or You Could Play Guess That Part And Throw A Bunch Of Parts On The Car.
