Buick 1988 Torque Converter

Hi,

My 1988 Buick LeSabre - 130,000 miles, stalled on me after hesitating. I could start it again but it would stall when I would put it on drive. Now it does not start anymore, it cranks, but does not start.

I have a code 39 on the computer for the Torque Converter Clutch ... I have read somewhere that it may be just the solenoid inside the TCC that would not work an maybe keep the TCC locked !?

Anybody had the same problem ?

I wonder how much this is going to cost me ...

Thanks for your input.

I don't think the torque converter cause the car to stall ( as in shut down?) and not to start..It would be something like the crank sensor or the ignition module or coil pack etc..did you ever get it fixed?

The car could start, so the engine would run perfectly, but when I put it in drive, it would stall, like if the torque converter clutch would be on all the time, creating a direct link from the engine to the transmission. As the car was not moving, it stalled.

I finally sold the car. I just started it a couple days after and everything was working fine. So I went ahead and traded it in for a new truck I wanted, before it would go bad again ... So I will never know the answer ! But I will get the truck tomorrow !
