I am looking at buying a 1994 Sedan DeVille, 4.9L, 103k, white with carriage top for about $4k....

About 5yrs ago, I owned a '94 (bought it on a whim actually). It was a very good car for me and I never had any problems at all with it the time I owned it. It had 244k miles on it when I sold it.

Here's the major difference though....the one I'm looking at buying has the 4.9L V8; the other one I owned had the NorthStar....any thoughts???

Here's another question for ya....the one I'm looking at buying has one of these 'carriage' tops on it. I've never owned a car with one of these but have seen the cracking, tearing, etc. of these type tops. Any advice on maintenance and care of these???

Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks in advance!

Both good engines, consider the standard motor as having less moving parts, therefore I would guess less to go wrong. I don't really like those tops much but I guess it depends on the color. Good luck.

Theres top protectant you can buy and it will keep your top in immaculate condition. The 4.9 was one of Cadillac's best.
