Screwy Electrical Problem, LOL!!!pRiMeRaCeR 11-30-2001, 10:05 PM First of all I love this forum. I'm glad to see so many dedicated G20 fans. I just joined the list last night. I was hooked for like 3 hours reading all the info on suspension. Anyways, here's my funny story. I first bought my car (2000 G20) last year in September. At first I was pretty anal about keeping the car spotless. So I bought some Plastic carpetting to cover the floors. I measured and cut everything. I placed all the pieces in the car and laid them down and tucked it under places like the molding, etc. I used a "staple gun" to keep the carpet flat and smooth. THe install looked great. Nice tight fit. A couple months later it starts raining. Naturally you have to use the rear defogger at times. As soon as it was turned on, the car started jerking back and for, it would stall out if I didn't keep the RPM up. Shifting was very harsh. When I turn off the Defogger, it ran fine. I take it to the dealer the next day. (Oh my parents are in Hawaii at the time so this is getting me a little nervous) The dealer had it for a couple days, and they couldn't figure out what the heck was wrong with it. Finally the problem is clear. They look at the super neat carpeting job I did and found that I used "staples." This caused a whole bunch of electrical problems when the rain started. When the defogger was turned on, it sent a current through the lines I stapled through and shorted out the electrical system of anything associated with the defogger. No wonder the idle was funny. It cost me $1300 to get it all fixed. It didn't just short out electrical things, it also blew some solenoids and shit. Damn I was so mad. Good thing I had a credit card. But damn, by now my car would've had ECU with 50 shot nitrous. But no, took me a year to pay this crap off. All i got is intake. How's my story? Be careful everyone with what you mess with. I totally learned my lesson man. AznVirus 12-01-2001, 05:27 AM hmm, first of all, i wouldnt take it to the stealership. money suckers! :flipa: and second, why staples? does the floor mat keep moving around or something? you probably cut into a bunch of wires and grounded them. well, hope you dont ever play with that staple gun again :alien: oh btw... :finger: W E L C O M E :finger: speediva 12-01-2001, 09:35 PM WELCOME!
