Front bumper and hood protection

I just purchased a brand new 2002 Special Edition and I want to keep it in mint condition for as long as possible. Can anyone say that a bra for the front end would be a bad thing to do. If not, where can I buy one? I've looked on the Chrysler web site under "accessories" but, no luck.

I've heard that using a traditional bra, (read, I don't know if this is true or not), will cause the paint under the bra to not weather like the paint exposed to the elements. I guess this makes sense though. If the paint under the bra is not exposed to sunlight, it will not fade like the paint exposed to sunlight will. I guess if the bra is left on long enough, what is long enough, I don't know, there could be a difference in the colors of the paint due to fading. I've also heard that if dirt gets under the bra, the bra can rub the dirt into the paint.

If you want some protection on it may I suggest something like a clear paint shield.

There are others, I thought 3M made one also, but I can't find it.

The car will look stock, without any bra on the front, but you know it will have some protection against rock chips and all.

Have a good one,

Dan

THIS IS VERY TRUE! I left the bra on my toyota and it ruined the paint underneath. When I took it off after one day, the paint was different and splotchy, and yes....the dirt under there, even though it was just a little dirt, rubbed the paint. I had it on about a year and didn't think anything about it. I eventually sold it with the bra on it.
:nono:
Don't use the bra, use touchup paint and wax often and hope for the best.
