I have a shift cable running under the bolts that holds the transmission pan. Can I drop the pan without removing the shift cable?

I recall reading one post where someone had bent the bracket out of the way temporarily, but I doubt if that is recommended.
The service manuals tell you to remove the two bolts that hold the bracket on. These bolts on the 2001 may have Torx heads, but I do not know the size off hand. A set of Torx head sockets should do the trick.

If i remember correctly i just swung mine out the way after removing one screw.
Remember the pan doesnt come off, i mean the y pipe wont allow you to remove it completely.
