I am really new to this forum and would like some advice. I have a 01 Sentra Se w/ auto. I would like to know what motors I could swap that would fit in my engine compartment without too much modification. I'm also wondering if an all wheel drive engine will be compatible with a FWD transmisson. And if I installed a JDM transmisson could my car be RWD? Anyway thats a lot of questions and any help or responses are appreciated.

Wow, all these swap questions lately...

Here are some options for you.

You already have an SR20de in your car. Great engine. You can turbo it as it is.

http://www.forcedinductionracing.com/B15SR20turbokits.htm

The link is to Travis' company, he is a member here and does a lot of turbo work on Sentra's. Turboing your existing engine is probably the most cost effective method for getting lots of HP.

Another option is to swap in a JDM SR20det. You can get one for around $2000. They have a little stronger internal components that your SR20, and will ulimately make a little more HP if you push them to the limit. Stock they make 205 or 210 hp or so.

As far as going 4wd or Rwd... I don't think you or I have enough money to custom fabricate something like that. Anything is possible, given enough creativity and $$$$. Your Sentra is designed to be Fwd, I think you have to cut into the underbody (including gas tank, etc) just to run a driveshaft. The real bugger would be trying to fit in the pumpkin (technically called the rear end). That would be a real chore. In any case, it would be awesome if you could go all wheel drive. But, that would be really tough.

If you desire rear wheel drive. I would pick up a 240sx and mod that. In fact, that's is what I have done. MMMMH skyline engine!!! drooling...
just need to save up some money.

hope this helps. If not, use the search button and you should find out much more.

Thanks for the help GB Pheonix77 but now I'm wondering what the last year of production was for the bluebird and the sunny. Where I live (and for the whole U.S. I think) it is illegal to install an engine older that your car into your car because of emissions changes over the years. So if they made a 2001+ Sunny or Bluebird it would be good. If not, oh well.
