How Do I Test My Brake Light Switch?Pekoe 08-16-2003, 03:40 PM I just put a continuity tester on my brake light switch and didn't get a light. On the tester, you hook black lead to ground and touch the metal tip of the tester to power and get a light - correct? The brake light switch has a red and a black wire connected to it. I disconnected the red wire and put the metal tip into the red wire and got no light. Am I doing this right? Shouldn't the tester light turn on when I touch it to the red wire? Thanks V-8Fan 08-17-2003, 12:59 AM Sounds right to me. I would also check to see if the black wire is hot though. Ya never really know. Make sure you have the alligator clip on a good ground, though, otherwise you're spinnin' yer wheels. jeffescortlx 08-18-2003, 04:29 PM Or just jumper the switch and look to see if the lights are working. Did you check all the fuse's? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
