At what rpm should I shift from 1st to 2nd gear?

When I shift at 5500 and let the clutch up quickly but not poping it, the car bucks. If I shift at 4000 it is ok. My 93 Dodge Shadow doesnt do this. If the redline is at 8000 shouldnt 1st gear be fine all the way to redline before I have to shift to 2nd? Thx.

You can shift at what ever RPM's you want to... just practice driving.

Isn't 5500 the bottom/beginning of the powerband?????:silly:

I you DIDN'T feel a "buck" shifting then, I'd be worried:smoker:

5500 is the rpm limit during break in. It is no buck but multiple bucks.
