Hi Everyone:

I have an 88 bonneville that im trying to sell (its getting in the way of the almight WRX), but the doors wont open on the front and rear passenger.

The lock moves up and down but when you push in the handle there is no resistance. Before that happened the door wouldn't even close.

BTW..it has power locks.

Anybody know what I can do to fix it or get it fixed, or what the problem is?

Anyhelp is appreciated.

You will have to pull the door panels out and check the rods and the plastic clips that hold them in place. See if they are in place, broken or missing. Some times the rods come off and cannot activate the latch to open the door. Sorry. No easier way out.

The handle itself is made with a lot of plastic with a metal pin that connects the link to the locking mech. and the combination of materials causes it to rust the pin and the link freezes in a position that the button on the door handle can't activate the lock. a little WD-40 can do the trick.
