well i am tinking about getting a manual pick up sierra of course. and i was wandering how to make my engine rev 8k rpm's or more will i need to buy a new engine ( like a camaro engine) or can i simply change the gears or something ( im new to tunin ) i am ready to invest a lot of money in to this truck ( like mabe 15k$ in total ) and also i was considering a nitrous kit if anyone has any opignion or past experiences with this type of stuff and want to share knowlege or opignion i would greatly apreciate or if you can just say what you modified on your truck that you found was good you can say what and how it made your truck better i would also apreciate

I'll probably get slammed for saying so, but so what.

Being the purist that I am, I would say don't go with nitrous. To me it's just too much of an instant gratification thing. Sure, you can really wake up just about any old engine with a shot of nitrous, but that's it. Too much like muscles in a pill bottle. Steroids. Not very genuine at all.

If you are serious about spending the kind of money you are talking about on just an engine, I would advise you to have a balanced and blueprinted 350 built. Spend the money on machining and stay away from the 600 horsepower tricks...and I say this for several reasons. You say you are "new to tunin" which tells me you wouldn't be able to keep a fire-breathing 600 horsepower engine in top shape for very long. Not that you wouldn't be able to have horsepower---just stay with less than radical cams (stick with hydraulic), and maybe go with a decent and reliable aftermarket injection system, that sort of thing. Buy the best components you can that will make the engine bullet-proof. The reason is that if you had a rompin' stompin' 600 horsepower small-block built, it would require constant attention and it would demand things like frequent valve lashing and adjustments here and there...in short, it would be like a high-maintenance woman. You really would be better off keeping the thing on the less-than-wild side. And really, 8000 rpm is not necessary. You should be able to get plenty of performance without surpassing 6500 or 7000 rpm.

Just remember that simplicity is the way to go if you want reliability, and for the street, you're better off with an engine that makes its power in the 1500 to 5000 rpm range.

Hey man, sounds like it would be really cool, but why do you want to do this? :)
Don't want to flame, just want to know.
I think your best bet would be to get a new motor like V-8 fan said and just go from there.

well i want to tune up a car for the fun of just doing it i guess ( it will be a summer car ) and evryone has a civic so i descided to go with pick ups and i will eventualy tune interior , engine , and exterior to make a realy cool looking car that can speed and so on

Well, you're going to need one big radiatior too. That motor will be running really hot with some mods and if you drive it in the summer, thats not going to help. So since it is a summer car, are you going to get a 2wd?
Its good that you decided to go with a GM instead of some stupid Honda or crap like that.

yea i want rear weel drive hoping to reach a good 350 hp realy prime and i was tinking of getting a gm sierra pick up with a 6 foot box ( for better handeling) and to reach the 350 hp manual. I was tinking of using a tune stage instead of a turbo or supercharge also i will drop it ( tinking about putting a suspention that can rise or lower from inside the car ) and i will be doing the modifications my self ( im going to work with my dad's friend for free on saturdays to learn mechanics ) and ill also have those huge cooling system that you can make steam shoot from the engine =) hehe

if you want reliable and easy to keep up hp, you need to supercharge it. either vortech or powerdyne would be my suggestion...i would stay away from nitrous unless it is a dry 50hp shot. it is good bang for your buck but not in the long run. as far as handling goes, u arent going to get great handling out of a fullsize truck anyways. if u are really set on being able to rev it up to 8000 rpms, a set of nice racing heads and a completeley balance engine should come pretty close to it but as someone said already, 8000 rpm on an everyday driver is excessive

well if your not goin with nitrous then you cant have the cool steam blowing outta the hood, that is actually the nitrous being purged to be sure there is no air in the line..
